"Established in 1634, Henrico was one of the eight original counties in Virginia. Today, the county consists of residential communities, farmland and business, industrial and retail areas. The southeastern and far-western sections of the county are both experiencing growth. Varina, in the southeast region, was one of the first frontiers in America after the Jamestown settlement. Today, the area is addding new communities and retail areas. The opposite end of the county-the far - western section-houses Short Pump, an area of constant growth. The Broad street corridor is sprinkled with a myriad of shopping options, including the Short Pump Town Center, an upscale outdoor mall."
